Are you thinking about starting a career as a dental assisting, but would love to know what it is exactly that you will have to do?  Well dental assistants provide support to the both dentist and dental hygienist.  They handle many of the small but necessary details of the dental practice.  Dental assistants allow dentist and dental hygienist to remain more focused on the task at hand because all of the details are being handled by assistants.

The Requirements to Become a Registered Dental Assistant

To be absolutely clear from the beginning, the following requirements are only found in some states, not in the whole country. Dental assistants can practice any kind of registration or certification in almost half of the states.

The first requirement to becoming a registered dental assistant is to have all the tests taken and passed that are listed in the dental assistant national board. All of those tests are a clear requirement for those that wish to become registered dental assistants. If you read one of the previous articles about dental assistants you would know that these tests are standardized and consist of 120 multiple answer questions.

After having passed all of the tests we mentioned, you will have to take a set of copied documents to the state dental association board for approval. You will be gain your designation as a registered dental assistant as soon as those documents are signed and approved. You will also have to pay a certain fee.
