Dental lab technicians construct, or repair, dentures and prosthetics. Dental hygienists clean teeth, examine patients for signs of oral diseases such as gingivitis, and apply sealants and fluorides to help protect teeth. They must also learn to take and develop dental x-rays. The median annual wage for dental hygienists was $52,330 in 2015, while dental assistants average $37,500 per year. Dental assisting jobs are projected to grow 19% in the coming decade.

Dental hygienists need an associates degree in dental hygiene. The programs typically take 3 years to complete, and offer laboratory, clinical, and classes in anatomy, physiology, nutrition, radiography, pathology, and periodontics. All states require dental hygienists to be licensed, although requirements vary by state. The Commission on Dental Accreditation, part of the American Dental Association, has accredited more than 300 dental assisting programs.

Paramedic Training Programs

Paramedics, in comparison with EMT techs, have more advanced training. They first must complete both the EMT and Advanced EMT levels of instruction, along with expanded practice in advanced medical techniques. Colleges and technical schools may offer programs which require about 1,200 hours to complete, leading to either an associates or bachelors degree. All states require both EMTs and paramedics to be licensed.

The National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) certifis EMTs and paramedics. Finally, most EMTs and paramedics take a course ensuring that they are able to drive a ambulance. According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of emergency medical technicians (EMT) and paramedics is projected to grow 25 percent from 2014 to 2024, much faster than average. The average annual wage for EMTs and paramedics was $31,980 in May 2015.

Technical programs are a low-cost alternative to attending a regular four-year university, and you can earn good money as a highly-skilled, technical specialist. If you remain true to your career interests, via Rose State College phlebotomy technician program, your overall job earnings will increase as you gain experience. Financial Aid Information

Government scholarships and Pell grant applications, combined with academic scholarships, only account for a third of total college aid. Student loans, work-study earnings, and personal savings make up the remaining two-thirds. The official FAFSA website is fafsa.ed.gov and is free to use. Merit-based aid is a package of scholarships and grants awarded to students with special talents. Academic scholarships are highly competitive, and are usually awarded either by the admissions office, or individual academic departments.

Student loans typically have variable interest rates while federal student loans have fixed rates. Financial aid may be administered through the Department of Education or your school's financial aid office. High school grades are the most important factor in gaining admission to the college of your choice, along with letters of recommendation. According to Colorado State University Pueblo interdisciplinary studies, an ideal academic record consists of a high GPA in courses of progressive difficulty. Peterson's scholarship search is good to check not only for college scholarships, but also for the extensive resources on the college application process. Both county and city governments have dedicated financial resources allocated for grants and scholarships to qualified students in their areas.
